Moving back and forth between Features and Episodic, Rob Givens has kept his focus on the narrative form. From the first location scout, through the meetings, to the Blocking, Lighting, and Shooting, Rob loves assisting the Director in bringing their script to life. Partner in crime. Visual Translator. The job takes many forms.

In 2013, Givens first moved into the spotlight when honored in the 17th Annual ICG EMERGING CINEMATOGRAPHER AWARDS for his work on the short film, THE RIDE

Most recently, he was Nominated for an ASC Award in 2024 for his work on Greg Berlanti’s series GOTHAM KNIGHTS, now streaming on MAX

Over the years, Givens has teamed with acclaimed director Brett Haley for many features including I'LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS [Sundance 2015], THE HERO [Sundance 2017], ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES, and ALL TOGETHER NOW

Givens joined director Damon Thomas’ feature debut, the horror comedy MY BEST FRIEND’S EXORCISM for Amazon Prime. He then moved to Emily Ting’s nostalgic love story in GIRL HAUNTS BOY for MAX, both in collaboration with Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor Content)

As a leader, Givens has honed his communication skills, implementing a balance between assertiveness and empathy, to provide a positive on-set environment. He often incorporates the ideas of team members, making for a set where creativity flows. From rallying a tired crew during late-night shoots to seamlessly coordinating complex shots, Givens has emerged as a captivating image maker.  

Rob is a member of the International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600. He lives with his wife and two sons in Los Angeles, CA.
